One breath, and life takes root in a never-ending alternation of full and empty. Mathilde Lechat’s desire to celebrate the richness and vitality of breath was an obvious choice. As a singer and sound explorer, for this show she has chosen to sound and spatialise her own breath, to give voice to its nuances: its roughness, its power, but also its fragility. She unfolds a multi-faceted score for body and voice, constructing a musical and choreographic language that knows no boundaries. At ease or on the alert, she plays with the imaginary dimensions of her inner breath, which she transposes to the outside world in a poetic journey that is at once mischievous, wild, intimate and creative, moving close to and around the audience.
Souffle! invites the audience to curl up on cosy islands in the heart of an immersive space vibrant with sound and light, with the intention of offering a moment of timeless listening that resonates with the sonic curiosity of young and old alike.
